Sometimes (?) I Question My Own Sanity
Hot! Hot! Hot!
That's about all we've heard around here the last two days. Not even a breeze off the ocean to cool us down. We are parched and on red flag alert in Southern California. And SUMMER isn't even here yet.
So, what do I do?
I spend an hour standing over an eleventyhundred-pound cast iron stove top grill fixing something to eat tonight when it finally (hopefully!) cools down.
Ah, but it will be worth it when the sun sets...
We are vegetarians so lookey what I grilled up. In the background is Chick'n Free Nuggets by
Veat - we love their products, the Chick'n Free Nuggets aren't coated, so you can grill 'em...and they taste nothing like those McThings from McWherever. Along side those on the plate is grilled asparagus spears.
In the foreground, grilled pineapple...ahhhhhh...and grilled artichoke hearts...Oooooooo! We like our grilled food cold or room temperature so we always cook it ahead of time.
Oh I also reduced some orange juice for dippin' the Nuggets. YumO!
Ok..dinner is done and ready for sundown -- now back to work!

Mmmm Grilled Pineapple is excellent. I love grilled fruit and veggies. Since I don't like chicken, I am not sure I would eat the nuggets. But I would try one.

Gene, hi! Yeah, grilled fruit and veggies are my favorite foods, besides pizza :) The chick'n free nuggets don't taste real chickenish - from what I remember chicken tasting like ...been a vegeterian for over 15 years now.

MMMMM... yummy!! I've not tried the chick'n free nuggets (I'm not a vegetarian, but tend to like veggie foods - like tempeh! Yum!)
We don't have a grill, but I'm thinking we should! I LOVE grilled vegetables best of all! I think Mike would even eat grilled asparagus!

Tammy - As long as you have a vent above your stove - or good ventilation in your kitchen I think the stove top grill is great. Sometimes our fire alarm goes off even with the windows open and the vent on high...LOL!

Corey, it was a good day to cook what I did. The following day (yesterday) the fog horn was a goin' and the fog creeped up our road off the ocean! Didn't feel like pre-summer at all!
